"While the Veterans Court often includes drug counseling and mentoring, Pierce said the guitar lessons and drum circles will act more as “electives” to the “core classes” in the program.
The grant application cites work by Sadhu Khalsa, founder of the Healing the Warrior Program in New Mexico, who uses drumming as a holistic approach to healing veterans.
The Court will use “Health Rhythm Certified Facilitators” to lead drum and percussion groups, allowing veterans to express themselves, have camaraderie with their peers and empower them from “disabled to capable,” the application says."...
